When I first hear of digital and computers doing work on photography I was amazed to see my photos changed into great effects and visions. I tried to do this earlier with an enlarger at one time but was limited with techniques. My exit form film was in 1987, when I hung up the 35mm for good. I didn't pay attention for a long time still shooting family and personal pictures with film. The interest I had at one time started to die out and I went into other creative areas that turned me on. I hated digital and all it represented along with cell phones and computers. A backwoods artist living in the woods of Oregon.
I was void of what was going on till around 2003 when I purchased my first Nikon Coolpix. Totally amazed and confused at the new buttons and settings made it even more difficult that what it took me a lifetime to learn wasn't efficient anymore. Film has a nice smooth quality about it. Digital is electronic and has a sharp crisp edge. I was always amazed at the transition that full length movies went through to show them in a theater. First, they would be shot on negative motion picture film (35mm-70mm), then make prints from that to positive and off to being transferred to video. This procedure make a nice rich quality of a movie. A marriage that resulted in success for a long time.
I'm a film guy! Some conveniences are great for digital but over all it's cheapened the art of photography and the basis understanding of it.
